We’re hiring a Barista to join us at our Aerocity kiosk.

Barefolk is a fermentation-led food and beverage brand focused on thoughtful ingredients, specialty coffee, crafted beverages and a warm, engaging customer experience.

This is a customer-facing role for someone with strong coffee fundamentals, a genuine interest in hospitality, and the ability to take responsibility for the bar during service while working closely with the Head Barista & Store In-Charge.

Scope of Work

As Senior Barista, you are responsible for delivering Barefolk’s coffee and beverage programme to consistently high standards, supporting smooth daily bar operations, and acting as a senior member of the front-of-house team.

1.1 Beverage Production & Quality

  • Prepare and serve espresso-based coffee, specialty beverages, teas, and other drinks in accordance with Barefolk’s standardized recipes, specifications, and presentation standards.
  • Dial in espresso at the beginning of the shift and make appropriate adjustments throughout the day to maintain consistency in extraction, flavour, and beverage quality.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of coffee beans, brewing methods, milk texturing, beverage construction, and service standards.
  • Ensure accurate portioning, preparation, and presentation of all beverages to minimize wastage and maintain consistency.
  • Support the Head Barista in trials, seasonal beverage development, and implementation of new recipes.
  • Develop a working understanding of Barefolk’s fermentation-led beverage programme and correctly execute approved fermented and specialty beverages.
  • Support basic food preparation, assembly, and plating when operationally required.

1.2 Bar Operations & Shift Responsibility

  • Ensure the coffee bar is fully prepared and service-ready before each shift, including mise en place, equipment checks, ingredient preparation, and replenishment.
  • Support opening and closing procedures in accordance with Barefolk’s operational checklists.
  • Operate the POS accurately and responsibly, including order punching, billing, and payment collection where required.
  • Monitor service flow during busy periods and coordinate effectively with the kitchen, service team, and fellow baristas.
  • Take responsibility for the bar during assigned shifts or in the absence of the Head Barista, within the authority delegated by management.
  • Maintain appropriate par levels for coffee, milk, syrups, teas, and other beverage ingredients during service.
  • Immediately report shortages, equipment issues, quality concerns, or operational problems to the Head Barista / Store In-Charge.

1.3 Inventory, Wastage & Stock Control

  • Assist in monitoring daily stock levels of coffee beans, milk, teas, beverage ingredients, disposables, and other bar supplies.
  • Ensure ingredients are stored correctly, labelled, dated, rotated, and used in accordance with FIFO/FEFO principles.
  • Record and communicate wastage accurately and actively work to minimize unnecessary product loss.
  • Assist with receiving and checking deliveries for quantity, condition, and quality.
  • Support periodic stock counts and inventory audits as instructed by the Head Barista or Store In-Charge.

1.4 Equipment Care & Maintenance

  • Operate espresso machines, grinders, brewers, refrigeration equipment, and other bar equipment correctly and safely.
  • Carry out daily cleaning and preventive maintenance procedures, including backflushing, grinder cleaning, steam-wand cleaning, and workstation sanitation.
  • Ensure equipment is never mishandled and immediately report any malfunction, damage, or unusual performance.
  • Maintain grinders and brewing equipment in appropriate calibration throughout service.

1.5 Guest Experience & Service

  • Provide warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and efficient service to every guest.
  • Confidently explain Barefolk’s coffee, tea, fermentation-led beverages, ingredients, and menu offerings to customers.
  • Make appropriate beverage recommendations based on guest preferences.
  • Handle customer feedback professionally and escalate complaints or service issues to the Head Barista / Store In-Charge when required.
  • Maintain a welcoming, calm, and professional presence during both regular and high-volume service periods.

1.6 Training & Team Support

  • Support the Head Barista in training junior baristas and other team members on coffee preparation, beverage recipes, equipment handling, cleaning procedures, and service standards.
  • Demonstrate correct working practices and lead junior team members by example.
  • Assist new team members during onboarding and help ensure consistent adherence to Barefolk’s SOPs.
  • Participate actively in tastings, coffee training, menu briefings, and internal product education sessions.

1.7 Hygiene, Food Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain strict personal hygiene and grooming standards at all times.
  • Follow Barefolk’s daily and weekly cleaning schedules for the bar, equipment, storage, and service areas.
  • Ensure ingredients are handled, stored, and served in accordance with applicable food-safety and FSSAI requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and guest-ready bar throughout service.
  • Immediately report any hygiene, pest-control, contamination, or food-safety concerns to the Store In-Charge.

1.8 Occupational Health & Safety

  • Follow all prescribed safety procedures while operating espresso machines, steam wands, hot-water systems, grinders, electrical equipment, and other bar equipment.
  • Handle hot liquids, glassware, cleaning chemicals, and equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Maintain clear and hazard-free working areas to minimise the risk of slips, burns, cuts, or other workplace accidents.
  • Understand and comply with Barefolk’s fire-safety, emergency, and evacuation procedures.
  • Immediately report accidents, unsafe conditions, equipment hazards, or near-miss incidents to the Store In-Charge.

1.9 General Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the Head Barista, kitchen, fermentation team, and wider Barefolk team.
  • Maintain punctuality, professional conduct, and adherence to scheduled shifts.
  • Perform other reasonable duties related to beverage preparation, customer service, and store operations as required by management.
  • Uphold Barefolk’s standards of hospitality, product quality, cleanliness, and brand presentation at all times.
